Yes, sir! After being left off of the initial dates, the Rockstar Mayhem Fest returns to KC this year on July 17th at Cricket Wireless Amphitheater (aka Sandstone). The lineup this year has some tasty acts on it, and some not so good ones. I think there's enough there to warrant a trip to Bonner Springs, though!

Rotating Band Slot (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying)

Jagermeister Stage:

Anthrax
Rotating Band Slot (AA, TDWP, AILD)

Motorhead -- Kansas City, MO -- February 17th, 2011

Great show from all the bands, but WOW what a performance by Clutch. BUT FIRST:

I got to the venue right at eight o'clock, but the line was still stretched around the block. I hear Valient Thorr playing while I waited to get in and missed about half their set. Their sound mix wasn't all that great, but the band was as great as ever. Kansas City is their second home, so I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of them very soon.

I finally did it! I lost my Clutch show virginity! And what a show it was! Neil was moving all around and the music sounded great. Lots of great grooves; it's impossible not to move around to the beat at a Clutch performance! Big News I was really good, but my favorite song they did was Immortal. That song sounds great live! Might be the best opening set I've ever seen. Big thanks to Brad and Jeff for helping me figure out their set!

Motorhead was Motorhead. Nothing more, nothing less. I will say I enjoyed them a bit more than the last time I saw them. Also wasn't as loud as I remember. Still awesome. Songs like "Rock Out" and "I Got Mine" were great, but my personal favorite was "Going to Brazil." It's just too much fun. The guitar solo was kind of lame, but the drum solo was great. Always fun to see this legendary band, so hopefully they'll be around a while longer!

Motorhead:

We Are Motörhead
Stay Clean
Get Back In Line
Metropolis
Over the Top
One Night Stand
Rock Out

Motorhead -- Kansas City, MO -- September 24th, 2009

Wow. Up in the top 5, probably top 3, performances of the year for me. Every part of Motorhead's performance was top notch. And to say that they were loud is an understatement.

Because of jankety directions, I got lost downtown trying to find a parking place and ended up missing Nashville Pussy and delicious almost-nudity I hear. Oh well.

Reverend Horton Heat's sound started off kind of weird for me, but as I got used to it, I really started enjoying him. Perfect blend between rock and roll, old time country, and rockabilly, the crowd loved every second of his set. Especially when he played Psychobilly Freakout (curse you Guitar Hero! I haven't 5-starred it yet!) and when he stood on the bass player's stand-up bass. Really fun, and he usually comes around here a ton of times a year, so I'll be sure to catch him next time. 8/10

Reverend Horton Heat’s Big Blue Car
Now, Right Now
I’m Mad
Ain’t No Saguaro In Texas
Drinkin’ And Smokin’ Cigarettes
Please Don’t Take The Baby To The Liquor Store
Psychobilly Freakout
Baddest Of The Bad
400 Bucks
Death Metal Guys
The Jimbo Song
Devil’s Chasin’ Me
Big Red Rocket Of Love

Not 100% on the set, but it seems to be right.

Motörhead. Is there anything else I need to say, really? They were loud, they were heavy, they were awesome, and they will forever be legends. Highlights of the night were Stay Clean, Rock Out, Killed By Death, and of course, Overkill. 9.5/10

1. Iron Fist
2. Stay Clean
3. Be My Baby
4. Rock Out
5. Metropolis
6. Over The Top
7. One Night Stand
8. I Got Mine

10. Another Perfect Day
11. In The Name of Tragedy
12. Jus Cos You Got The Power
13. Going To Brazil
14. Killed By Death
15. Bomber

They are Motörhead. And they play rock n' roll.

Good 1-2 shot

Dragonforce is at the Beaumont Club on Sept. 28th with Sonata Arctica. You know that, right?

The day before, Sept. 27th is metal gods Motorhead along with the semi-eclectic line-up of Reverend Horton Heat (I, unfortunately, forsee boo's in the future for them) and Nashville Pussy. It'll be at the Midland by AMC.
