Touche Amore -- Lawrence, KS -- May 16th, 2011

Partial/Out of Order set (first two and last 3 are correct order):

~ (new song)
Cadence
And Now It's Happening In Mine
Nine
Always Running, Never Looking Back
The Great Repetition (new song)
Home Away From Here (new song)
I'll Deserve Just That
Honest Sleep
Adieux
---
Suckerfish

Great show, as always. Touche Amore has a special connection with Kansas, and it's not just the song wehatefredphelps.com. They recorded their new album in Eudora with Ed Rose (they were also celebrating the leak of their new record tonight!) and Sean Ingram (Coalesce) was in the audience, and they gave shout outs to him. The crowd did as much vocals as Jeremy did, with everybody (and I mean everybody) rushing the stage for the final refrain of Honest Sleep. Cadence was also fantastic, and the new songs had a great, thrashy feel to them. Can't wait for that album. We also convinced them to do an encore, which I don't think they ever do. It was a great night, and I can't believe it took me this long to see them headline.

Opening bands were Canyons and Meth Horse. Canyons has a pretty big following and they play good old-fashioned metalcore/hardcore that sounded great. The opening band, Meth Horse, blew me away though. I'd consider them a mash-up of Tragedy, early Napalm Death and Man Is The Bastard. Probably my new favorite grind/hardcore/PV band from around here.

Touche Amore: 9/10
Canyons: 8/10
Meth Horse: 8.5/10

Touche Amore hates Fred Phelps, but loves Lawrence!

Touche Amore, amazing emotional post-hardcore band from California, will be returning for the third time in two years. They'll be at the Jackpot on May 16th with Canyons opening!

DRI KC ASAP BTW!

If you can't make the D.R.I. date in Wichita, they will be at the Record Bar (after destroying it in January 2010) with 3 Pac, Attention Seeker, and Whyte Bitch! Don't miss this legendary band!
